I've been thinking to myself what are some good ideas for Suhoor. So here are some ideas that came to mind. Now some of these may sound heavy for being so early in the morning, but lets remember how long the days are going to be this year. 1. Oatmeal. Believe it or not, while I'm not a fan of oatmeal, my girls are. There are many ways that you can add flavor to oatmeal to make it new again. Its a great source of vitamins, protein, and fiber.
Its heavy to so it'll help you last longer through these long summer days this year. 2. Grits. A hot cereal that's a southern favorite! 3. Cream of Wheat or Cocoa Wheat. I know everyone is laughing at this one. I know I went way back, its a childhood fav. So why not making it a family fav, 4. Foul. I posted the recipe for this. Serve it with some pita bread, you're good to go. 5. Omelets.Omelets are the most versatile thing you can make with eggs.
You can add anything to them, veggies, meat, sausage, and even seafood. 6. Waffles and Pancakes. Now I'm not talking about the frozen food section (even though Eggo does taste good) I'm talking about making so real homemade fluffy pancakes and waffles. Great thing about this is, you can make this ahead of time, and store them in the freezer. 7. Biscuits. Grab a box of Bisquick, follow the recipe on the box, and some chocolate chips, chives, or other ingredients.
8. Cheese and Meat Pies. You can buy this ahead of time, store them in the freezer and pull them out as you go. 9. Fruit Salad. Making a nice and healthy fruit salad is always great. Don't just serve it at Iftar, serve it at Suhoor. 10. Cheese, Olives, and Bread. I love to eat this when on the daily. But its extra great to eat if I wake up later for Suhoor and need to grab a quick bite. Cheese that I'm talking about are feta, Spanish, Halloumi and so on.
