Summers, Rooftop And Champion’s Trophy Final

How Make Food
Game of Thrones is just across the corner and yet again, taking an inspiration, we hosted our meetup in North, this time GTB Nagar was the host. The meetup was organized to bring the community once again, to discuss on some hot topics pertaining to economy, comedy, telecommunications, and IT sector.

And, also the screening of Champion’s Trophy Final between India and Pakistan was another major highlight of the meetup. Although, we are still trying to remove that match from our memories. Turnout of around 30 people from varied backgrounds and lifestyles. People who had their Civil Services exam that day, to people from IIT, people from startups and some regular faces at the meetup. Dibakar Dutta, The Psychology Geek, joined us to share his experience of how Quora has framed up these days, and his new writer life in Bangalore.

He may have been banned on Quora, but he’ll always be an important member of the Quora community. It was the last meetup for him in Delhi, along with another friend having a unisexual name Bhavya. Meetup happened at rooftop, and we barely survived on mists and a so called Split A/C. Spirits and excitement of the meetup were so high, that even the scorching Sun could not get the better of the Quorans.

Meetup started with a turnout of only 4-5 members, but more and more people kept on joining in as the meetup progressed. The meetup was started with a round of introductions while Roshan as always started enjoying his food already. The pressure to keep on ordering more was the opportunity cost of sitting at the place. Jokes on Cricket, Bhalla Ji ki vines and memes sharing outlaid the fun part of the meetup.

How Indian farmers should get out of Debt Trap, How to make Food available to larger masses, AI and Death of IT Sector. Overflow of Memes: Is Comedy getting harder, A special shout-out to Aditya Arora who moderated the motions and discussions of the meetup. A lot of perspectives, statistics, and personal experiences were shared by the attendees on the motions. The consensus was hard to reach on a particular topic. But, there was a different side to the topics which was highlighted by people.

Glad, we didn’t have the Newshour with Arnab Goswami kind of debate this time around. We were making the drinking water cold using ice cubes, just like making a regular peg. Wait for the food felt almost like a lifetime, but when it arrived, it was gulped in seconds as it came. Everyone settled the bill equally.

Yes EVERYONE, well, some people paid less who ate less or left early. It was an awesome time. 25th meetup, so many new people joining in and such interesting motions had caught everyone’s eye. Although, we lost the match but a day well spent. At the end, unlike many, we did have something that brought joy to most of us.

The meetups are becoming more structured now, in terms of the attendees we call, pre-decided motions and a structural (though informal) way of conducting meetups. You can read about the first-hand experiences of the attendees here - How was your experience of 25th Delhi meetup held on 18th of June, Next meetup is being planned on 9th of July (tentative), venue - TBD. But more fun, knowledge sharing and an awesome time guaranteed yet again, we hope to see you there.
